About
Specialising in portraits and pets and people, I create highly detailed works of art in oils, pastels and pencil; capturing life in minute detail.
I have over 30 years' experience as a portrait artist, starting off by drawing my children, Polly and Daisy and my dogs, Maggie, Kevin and Pig.
Today I take commissions from people all over the UK through the Tilly & Blue website and am pleased to have won a number of awards.
Celebrate your life and loved ones with a unique commissioned portrait.

How to commission a portrait
I work with the team at Tilly & Blue who specialise in commissioning all of my portraits, pets as well as people. They have lots of information on their website about how to get started, I've added a link below so you can get in touch. Once I've completed your painting they will send it back to you beautifully framed and packaged, making a portrait a wonderful gift!

Oil paintings as keepsakes
Why commission an oil painting?
An oil painting becomes and instant heirloom and adds gravitas to a portrait. As we know, an oil painting can last for hundreds of years.
When I paint in oils I work the piece up in layers from dark to light, this adds depth to hair and fur. Oil paintings can take month to dry completely so care is needed for about 6 months so as not to damage your portrait.

Why I love painting with pastels
Reasons to choose a pastel painting
Pastels are lovely to work with and can be layered in a similar way to oil paints to give a great depth to the work.
Special care is needed as pastels are very fragile and need to be framed as soon as they are completed but make a beautiful portrait for a fraction of the cost of a traditional oil painting.

The beauty of pencil portraits
Commission a pencil portrait
Pencil drawings make a lovely, understated portrait. Still full of depth and life but in a simple monochrome format.
I particularly like pencil and white chalk, to bring out the highlights, on a grey paper or board, this gives a nice 3D effect to the portrait.
A very classic portrait style.
